Season Structure
A typical HK season runs approximately 88 race meetings, alternating between Sha Tin and Happy Valley with occasional international fixtures. The season starts in early September and concludes with the Champions Day card in late April or May. Between seasons (July/August), no racing takes place and no new race records are added to the dataset — making this a natural point for historical archive exports and schema reviews.
Update Frequency
HRDB updates the HK dataset following each race day. Racecard data for upcoming meetings is typically available 24-48 hours in advance. Result records are added within hours of the last race on meeting day. For subscribers using the API, results are queryable via the /results endpoint using the race date as a parameter. Daily update files are also available via SFTP for pipeline subscribers.
Historical Archive Depth
The HRDB HK archive covers results from the 1979/80 season onwards — over 45 years of documented racing history. Sectional time data is available from 2008.
